The ludicrous "dazed" effect

I don't normally post on the forums for things I find to be "unfair" or "stupid" or whatever else you may call this. And I tend to despise ranting. But for some reason this one single topic is bringing me to the forums: dazed effect.

This effect has to be the most over-abused NPC-only affect in the entire game. I do not know what the calculations are for the game to determine if a mob can or cannot daze me, but i'm pretty sure it goes like this: characterbackturned=yes; then daze.

There was a time, when a battle was going badly, or something involving extra adds, or even that surprise npc that hits like a freight train, where you could throw in the towel and run for your life. This is no longer the case.

It would seem that now we are being taught "fight or die". It really gets stupid that across my many toons, it matters not if i'm mounted, regular or epic, or various travel forms, the lowliest mob can strike me from behind and daze me. But no, that's not the end, but now, as long as my back is turned, they can KEEP dazing me over and over...effectively preventing any fleeing.

My druid pulls 2, I fight, an add shows up, i drop one, check my health and mana and decide to fight another day, pop travel form, turn, dazed. I stayed dazed (repeated debuffs here) for 24 secs (8 consecutive dazes) while trying to flee (and of course died).

So what's the message Blizz is trying to send? Fight or Die? Don't run? In PvE I should be able to disengage a battle and get away, granted they can hit me form behind, and rogue NPCs get nasty back attacks, and that's fine, so as long as I can run. But now I'm dazed, and dazed is absolutely the worst thing I've encountered in runing my PvE.

Yes, i loved being able to ride through a camp of enemies on mounts, and take damage and laugh as I ran passed. Now i avoid those camps because I know even a level 20 mob can daze (which = dismount if mounted) and there ya go. It used to be there was a slight chance to take damage and get dismounted, but now it's a very high chance (feels like it's close to 100%).

I don't wanna be uber or unstoppable or take no damage...damage is fine. What i want is to be able to occasioanlly leave a battle, or run away from a mob, or use my class abilities and get the hell out of dodge. And I'm all for that random chance of knocking my retarded butt off a mount in the middle of a group of unhappy mobs...but not with daze.

It can't be just me that's noticed this effect and it's annoying persistence. Or maybe i'm just hte most unlucky player in WoW. I just think the chance for a mob to daze a character needs to be reviewed and lessened. It's my opinion (that's unsupported via facts) that this effect is way to prominent in encounters and needs to be reduced in it's proc.

Am still curious if it's intended for mobs to daze you when you are walking backwards while attacking them. I don't understand the logic behind this one.

I'm guessing that's an effect of server/client sync and where the mob appears on your screen in relation to where the server believes it is. You can see this type of server/client discrepancy sometimes when moving away from a mob and stopping, and watching the mob run past you.

We're going to be posting some info tomorrow on daze and how it actually functions, along with some test results to give everyone a better idea of what your actual chance is to be dazed.

Probably a great use of time. Ya know, The new area in Blade's edge isn't beyond bugged to hell and back or anything. So this is really good information I'm sure every single wow player is dying to know! Hey, maybe you can give us an update on often those annoying birds in skettis will attack too!

Well, in a case where everyone is capable of all the different jobs that make up a company you might be right. Since that isn't the case and it's a pretty common topic with a lot of ambiguity surrounding how it works I thought it would actually be a good use of my time to collect and provide some information.
