Do in-game GM's serve a purpose? [Seriously]

I am not trying to slam anyone, but I have never heard of an in-game GM helping anyone. I personally have put in 4 tickets over the last year or so and each time the GM did absolutely nothing to help me. The last 2 instances:

1) Being harrassed/camped by a mage that would use Safe Fall and instant cast spells/talent to attack from his flying mount while I was flying well out of ground range (on my 70 rogue). If he had killed me while flying (very close a few times) I would have to spirit rez and take the sickness and gold hit. Not fair at all since I can't defend or fight back, and am vulnerable no matter where I am (outside of patrolled cities). The GM response was "it's a legal tactic that requires talent points...the only thing you can do is post in the forums and hope they fix the exploit." To be fair to the GM, he agreed that it is not fair at all (and he plays a mage). I play on a PvP server because I enjoy it, but exploits and tactics such as this are not part of the PvP idea.

2) I tamed a new pet that is my level and he was not gaining Loyalty (hence no training points), even tho I was keeping him fed and happy. The first GM I spoke to told me to reset my UI and sent me instructions. [I have no idea how that could help, but ok...] After resetting the UI and seeing no results, I put in another ticket as their email instructed. The second GM said I should check the forums for posts on the topic. I said I had and had found nothing. I asked how loyalty works (so I could understand the problem and possibly find a solution on my own) and he said "any information I could give you would be considered a game hint and we can't give out game hints." What?!? Every other aspect of the game is explained in the rules and tool tips, so how is Loyalty a game secret that would make the information a game hint? I could not come up with any other class that had a similar issue. I was not asking for info on how to down a boss or where the quest item is, just trying to understand an important part of my class. BTW- If Loyalty is tied to killing XP generating mob's then that should be changed to be fair (compared to warlock pets that are instantly ready if the player buys the books before hand). I have seen pets ding loyalty in towns, away from combat, so I am pretty sure it isn't just killing mob's.

Could the GM's have helped me? Yes. How?

1) In the first instance, the mage should have been warned to stop that tactic and the GM should have put in a bug about it. He said I would have to bug it. I do that for my day job and it I am not getting paid by Blizzard to bug the game. In fact, I am paying them to play it. So it falls to reason that Blizzard employees (i.e. GM's) should bug anything they find. It does not take long and they should have easier access to the bug database than we do.

2) In the second instance, the GM should have informed me as to how Loyalty works and put in a request to add the information to the website (possibly bug Loyalty if it is broken). If it's broken say it's broken. I don't mind looking for information, but I hate being handicapped by a lack of fairness or concern for player issues.

Either the GM's need more training or authority (or something helpful) that they can use to help the players and let them know their issues are important. Fairness and feeling like our concerns are heard are (IMO) 2 of the most important parts of customer service. So...What constructive purpose do in-game GM's serve? Anyone? Beuller? =)

Q u o t e:
Actually, in-game GMs serve three purposes:

They either:

- Tell you it is working as intended

or

- Tell you the problem is your addons and to delete them

Our third purpose is helping players count to three. : )

Your telling me to grow, but you told me to shut up and how can anyone talk to a customer like that.

go ahead laugh, I dont care, this GM is going down enough said.

I appreciate you taking the time to offer feedback regarding my level of service. When returning from your forum vacation, please remember not to use inappropriate language in such a way to circumvent the built-in filter. It doesn't validate your point.

As I do not believe this thread was originally about cup size I'll be locking it now.
