I'm 34, going on 35. (I'm staying there too.) Most of the people I game with are in their early 20s to mid 40s. I also know of many older players that have been a part of the guilds I've been in or that I've seen post before as well but it's a smaller population.

The great thing about WoW though is that it has something for many ages. I've seen mention of entire families playing together.

*Quick edit- As noted above, I'm not 12, but will sometimes find myself jumping as I'm going somewhere. It's more evident on characters that have fun jump animations like the BE and NE. I can't help it!

Part of my sensitivity about my age may come from living in Southern California. We have a very strong youth culture here.

I'm in SoCal myself and admire the "Older" women because they know who they are, what they are about, and have their "look" together. Those youths are looking to you to see how they are going to age as gracefully and beautifully. ;) Don't ever let it phase you.

To answer the other questions:

Yes, I'm in a guild. No, they don't know who I am. It's pretty fun that way and gives me better insight on what people are experiencing. I also do pugs, run alts, etc, in order to experience the many levels of play.

I turned 34 back in March. But I stopped counting after 29.......

30 isn't bad to admit to at all. Didn't you know they're the new 20s? LOL

Also, I am not going to let my age dictate my hobbies or career. The genre is too young to have an age limit and I've been a gamer all my life. Why would I quit just because I hit some magical number that someone else has decided is "too old" to play.

I'll be ganking my grandchildren (if I ever have them) someday and enjoying every minute of it.

Our culture is changing and perceptions of gaming are changing. It's up to us as a community of gamers to work to change those perceptions though by being who we are, up front and honestly.

Neth, as you seem to be such a book-head and are ever so careful with your language usage, you should know that this is not the correct word. It's actually "faze".

Unless, of course, it was some weird moon-related nelf thing.

Yes, but I like irony too and words are fun to play with.

actually Generation X'ers were born from 1978-1988. U are the newest generation, Generation Me, the me-first attitude instant gratification pampered since birth censored propagandized clueless to anything outside of a 20 mile radius bound to self implode when hitting the real world and experiencing adversity for the first time generation

Gen X is a bit older than that. Wikipedia has it as this- "Generation X includes anyone born from 1961 to 1981 in the United States. "

The generation after that is Y. Also from Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt- "If the years 1978-2000 are used, as is common in market research, then the size of Generation Y in the United States is approximately 76 million."
