Memory Leak...causing wow to be unplayable

I am having an issue with wow using way more memory than it should be. Normally, I sit around 800MB used of system memory total when I play the game. Since the patch, my system memory utilization jumps to 2.5GB of total system memory used. When I exit wow, the memory utilization drops to around 1.5GM of total system memory used and doesn't go back down to where it is supposed to (about 200MB). Looking at the processes running after exiting wow, there is not 1.5GB of system memory being used. I have to reboot the PC to clear it out, but after a few hours of playtime, it will happen again. This does not happen with any other game, only WoW. Any help is greatly appreciated as this is extremely annoying.

Hello Turkley,

A big factor in WoW that is variable is the Interface. Do you have a lot of AddOns running? How much memory do you have allocated for them? You can try disabling some AddOns, or reset your Interface altogether with the Repair Utility.

Can you test with just a stock, default Interface? You can move the Interface, Cache, and WTF folders to your desktop. When you start WoW back up, all 3 of those folders will be recreated fresh. Try playing with a stock interface for awhile, and see if there's a difference in memory usage. This will at least show if the memory usage was related to a particular AddOn, or just general file corruption in the cache and Interface. If the memory leaks continue with a stock interface, then we may indeed have to consider Windows XP 64-bit as a contributing factor, as it is pretty rare.
