My other account got banned unjustly, and I was told the only way to get in contact was via e-mail. Why isn't their a phone line? I pay to play this game and you can't give me better customer service. Also a GM can ban an account instantly, but when it comes to banning botters it takes investigation time, where as my account was banned immediately. I'm tired of illegitimate GM responses, tired of Blizzard not looking at real issues, and if they really did investigate my account they would realize I am just a normal player, but now as an inconvenience I get to wait around for up to several days to receive a response from the account managers.

Why can't I call? Why can't I have a chance to even defend myself? WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT UP TO SEVERAL DAYS FOR AN E-MAIL?!?!?!?

Most important of all though, I don't receive e-mails from blizzard after stuff like this happens. I don't have a spam filter and my e-mail account is correct in the information, although I can't check because I'm locked out of that also.

EDIT: Read GM convo first before replying please.

There is no need to defend yourself, Gerf. We have in-game policies and a penalty volcano that essentially provide a framework for the penalties we issue (player is found guilty of X policy + player has a history of Y amount of violations = player receives Z penalty).

We take the below policy very seriously. Trying to exclaim we don't handle botters in as timely a manner as you'd prefer is irrelevant. It makes the violation for which you were found no less severe. Whether you claim to have been kidding or not fails to negate the fact you asked in the Global Trade Channel for account passwords after claiming to be a Blizzard employee. For this reason your account received a three day suspension. I would suggest not--jokingly or otherwise--claiming to be an official Blizzard representative requesting private account information from everyone on your realm.

Q u o t e:
  • Impersonating a GM

Unfortunately, some players will attempt to use the authority vested in GMs to take advantage of others. All GMs will contact players using one of the methods detailed above, if they do not appear this way, they are not official Blizzard Entertainment employees and should be reported to the GM staff. Though we have little tolerance for impersonation in any capacity, if evidence of an attempt to use this impersonation to defraud or scam another player is found, serious action will be taken

How come you know this information but a GM from my server doesn't?

Game Masters generally do not comment on the actions taken toward a separate account in-game, as such a matter is to be handled by Account Administration. In the interest of clarifying the cause for concern in this thread, I commented generally on the reason for the penalty you received.

Q u o t e:
Anywho thanks for letting me know my suspension time!

I did confirm that an email was sent to the address on account record. If this email was not filtered as spam, you may want to check to ensure the correct address is registered to the account by logging into Account Management after the suspension expires.

For any real GM reading this, I really hope that in the eventual case of someone new to the game actually giving him any kind of information Blizzard ban the player forever and not the 3 day suspension like this time.

As the policy states, any actual or successful attempt to scam a player by impersonating a Blizzard employee is a serious offense.

I personally don't think Gerf should have been banned. Having played on Azgalor for a year and a half I can assure that the people on that server are pretty much the same as Gerf. We joke a lot, and usually have a good sense of humor ( except the occasional few that report you because they have nothing better to do with there lives). I mean seriously, who the hell would believe that a toon named Mcdrunkie would be the name of a GM? I guess on every server there is always one @!%##!% that sits at his computer all day waiting for someone to say something they can be banned for. I bet that made his e-peen just a little bigger.

Sygor, our decision to take action against a player claiming to be a Blizzard employee is not contingent upon the legitimacy of the impersonation. We take this very seriously. Whether one is "just joking" or not, one should never claim to be a Blizzard employee. Furthermore, one should never ask for other players' passwords. Of course you may feel that players who would report someone for this are childish or lacking in other areas of life.

Unfortunately for the offending party, that never matters. Rules are rules. : )

I understand. I'm just tired of people I like getting banned =P. I guess being banned myself about 3 times just adds to the anger lawl.

I use to be really tired of getting pulled over for speeding until I realized I could stop speeding. = p
