Still Have Brewfest Tokens?

If Brewfest has departed on your realm and you still have tokens to spend, don't delete them! Visit Larkin Thunderbrew in Ironforge or Ray'ma in Orgrimmar (the NPCs to whom you turn in the Brew of the Month Club Membership Form) and they'll let you spend your tokens if you still have them in your inventory. :)

This is a post about Brewfest, Oom.

Also, let's not start the mount distribution method debate in here again. Your feedback has been heard. We're aware.

I know last year there was quite a bit of distress about being unable to spend tickets once Brewfest ended, and with the tokens now having a duration on them, we felt being able to spend them after the event ended was for the best.

Any reason the Brewfest departed early? The dates listed for the event are Sep 20-Oct 4. Was I wrong in thinking I would still be able to participate on the 4th, then? I was counting on the last day to finish up a last round of dailies, and purchase foods/drinks - now I'll have Brewfest clothing clogging up my inventory space for a year, as well as be unable to complete the achievements I was working towards until a year from now.

I posted some days ago, repeatedly, informing the playerbase of when it would end specifically; I'm sorry you missed it. It left on time. Brewfest lasted exactly two weeks last year, and this year was no different.

For what it's worth, though, some of the achievements can only be completed during Brewfest, regardless of whether or not you have the items, so you would have had to wait until next year to get the Brewmaster title in any case.

Generally speaking, the last day listed normally means it ends in the wee hours of that day, but I'll be talking with the web team to further clarify the calendar.

Good to know. You say generally speaking - what are the chances of getting the holidays that don't match that system to match the rest, for consistency's sake?

I say generally speaking because I'm at home and don't have every precise end time memorized. That's the general rule, though.

This enddate problem won't be a problem with WotlK's calendar. In fact I used it on the PTR to verify that indeed the 3rd was the last full day and it ended as soon as it became the 4th.

This is very true. The in-game calendar will help clear up a great deal of the confusion surrounding particular end times.

I guess I'm curious why it would be correct in game but not on the web site?

Apologies, first, for the Hallow's End comment -- what's on the PTR is the correct end time, and I was mistaken. I'll explain why the in-game calendar will be accurate. The web site doesn't list times, and that's why there's confusion.

The in-game calendar's end dates aren't entered manually; they're looking at the selfsame data that operates the holiday. Therefore, the times on the calendar will be correct, as both the calendar and the holiday itself is referencing the same set of numbers. Does that make sense?

EDIT: And just so we're clear, no, we're not putting Brewfest up again today, nor will there be tokens given. I apologize if you thought it would last through today; I clarified on the forums for precisely this reason.

You still haven't explained why you use inconstant dates though. I didn't seriously expect you to give anything out or respawn the fest, though I did hold out a slim hope that something would be done (at the very least remove expiration dates on token). My main concern is preventing this from happening again, as yours should be. I see that the Hallow's End is still listed as Nov 1. Now I personally won't get burned by that again, but someone is going to. Why is that? Why can't you make a simple correction to avoid this?

It actually does last through the first, and I was mistaken when I said the last full day is on the 31st.

I'll go through the calendar again on Monday and speak with the web team about including times, as this does come up rather often and the time is almost always the culprit. This is the last holiday wherein it should be an issue, however. :)

No, we won't be changing the Brew of the Month achievement. Some achievements take time to complete.

Is there anything in the works to have the vendors sell past Brews of the Months instead of just the current?

No, the vendor's going to remain selling the brew of the current month only.

Talaa, are you speaking with the Brew of the Month Vendor rather than the troll or dwarf standing next to them? Also the mail with free samples will only come on the first of the month.

And if you have tickets from last year? There isn't a vendor available (now) to trade out tickets for tokens.

Correct; you'll have to wait til next year. The token exchanger was available for two weeks.

For all it's worth, wouldn't it be logical to add that to the token quartermaster that persists after brewfest too?

This isn't something we can do on the fly, but perhaps next year. :)
