Epic flyer.

Is there any point trying to make the money to get an epic flyer at this stage? Are there any plans for new flying mounts in the expansion, and when can we start using them?

That depends on if you want to continue using the 60% flying speed mount in Northrend or not. I guess it just comes down to how you want to travel in the expansion.

There are lots of new flying mounts that will be available. Some through the achievements system, some dropped from bosses, and some purchasable. I believe all of the new flying mounts require Artisan Riding Skill to use as they are all fast.

Flying mounts can be used in Northrend once Cold Weather Flying is purchased which becomes available at level 77.

So what was the story behind removing the Cold Weather Flying quest? That was a pretty fun quest. Is that still available if we don't want to pay? I've been a bit behind on beta realms so excuse my ignorance.

The quests are still there, and they are a fun little line for sure, they just don't reward the Cold Weather Flying at the end so you will need to purchase it from the trainer.

Last time I played in Beta you don't need to buy the 5k gold epic training again *IF* you already have it, you just need to drop about 950g for the cold weather flying.

Obviously if you don't yet have the Artisan flying skill -- well yeah you'll need to spend the 5k as well.

Artisan Riding skill and Cold Weather Flying are separate purchases.

No, you have to pay 950 gold for Cold Weather Flying. The 5000 gold is for the original Artisan Flying training.

Yes, 950 gold for Cold Weather Flying is the current cost in the beta.

I may have missed it, but i'll ask anyways.

The original question was not answered in this thread.

My addition to the question is: what are the new level 70 players going to do for epic flying since they will not stop questing to farm 5k gold to get the epic flying mount?

New level 70s will be heading to the new expansion as soon as they hit level 70, and 5k gold isn't easy to accumulate when you're a new level 70.

Any thoughts?

There are a lot of quests to complete in Northrend. You can continue to build up gold as you level to and are at level 80 and we are adding new daily quests to complete in Northrend too.

I still wonder why a previous blue post stated that the Cold Weather Flying will be free after completing a quest.. but now require's almost 1k gold to get? Not everyone does nor likes to be bored doing 10+ dailies a day - day in and day out.

Things change in the beta, that's why. At one point it was just the reward for completing a quest line but it didn't work out quite as we wanted so the ability was made purchasable on a trainer.

Indeed things do change on the beta, and somethings don't - that's the nature of development.

Since I don't know what specifically the questline was for it, I can only assume that for it to not "Work out quite as we wanted" is that having 10+ people running it at once caused the server to crash?

The majority of WoW quests requires grinding for the quest items. Just modify the flying one to say get 40 of some flying bird's wings.

Much better than putting a price tag on it for those who don't want to spend 1k gold on something better spent somewhere else.

Making it purchasable makes it easier for players to pick up right when they hit level 77 instead of sending them off to a quest line. It is also pretty easy to make 950 gold while leveling up due to all of the quests and quest rewards that are available.

So if you don't need artisan flying to get CWF, and you just get the CWF...can you use the epic flying mounts?Or are you stuck with the 60% ones?

You need to purchase Artisan Riding Skill to use the epic 280% or 310% speed mounts. Cold Weather Flying is not a way around this in any way. Cold Weather Flying simply allows you to use your flying mounts in Northrend - whether you want to use 60% mounts or faster ones is entirely up to you.
