Do Blizzard employees choose their own forum avatar or are they assigned?

I mean, who wakes up one day and decided to post as a candle?

Why be a floating skull?

The Dragon is far too obvious ;) Who wouldn't want to be a Dragon?

Dear god, a drooling tree?

I have retired myself to the notion that the avatar images are the devious production of an office vote ;) The employee is at the mercy of his co-workers.
Hopefully it's not something lame like a line on the blizzard employment application.

Has anyone ever wondered?

So how much did you lose the roll by?

Lose? I won my roll. My avatar is actually just an animated photo of me. Same as Zarhym.

How is Zarhym able to type then if he has no fingers?

Mind bullets.
