Blizzard complaining about Blizzard

Blizzard Post
I got a hearty chuckle at one of the threads....I saw something like this....

Q u o t e:

Current Statistics:

Gold spam threads locked on the first page: 9

Gold spam threads open on the first page: 3

I got a big kick out of it....Welcome to our world, Bliz. This is the type of crap we put up with on an hourly basis in game. I hope that hundred of people open up threads and spam the crap out of the poor gms.

In AV today, spamsentry has blocked 18 whispers from gold spammers and I've only been in there since 2pm.

Anyways, I report them and I get an autoreply yesterday something like this:

We are concerned about the gold spam as well. Our development team is working on a resolution to this problem. Blah Blah Blah (insert politically-correct unsubstantative comments)

Sooo, this is the purpose of my post. Am I to understand that Blizzard has, for the time being, has assumed a policy of simply patronizing users given the massive reports they get? Are they depending solely on the devs on this policy?

The reason why I ask is that I have seen Blizzard do this before. With the 40 yard flag capping in AV, Blizzard wasn't banning anyone. They simply just let people do it. With the blinking through the bubble in EOTS and the multi-cap flag capping bug, Blizzard wasn't banning anyone either. I don't need a post to tell me "well, actions were taken and you can't know the results" to know that there weren't any. When some guy does this for 3 weeks straight, and it's the same guy, come on.

So, my question again, am I to understand that Blizzard has, for the time being, has assumed a policy of simply patronizing users given the massive reports they get? Are they depending solely on the devs on this policy? I'm not asking in a retorical, hostile sort of way. I really am curious.

No, we are not at all patronizing our players for submitting in-game petitions reporting characters for spamming gold ads. We appreciate each and every report and are doing everything we can to take the appropriate actions toward the accounts involved as quickly as possible while maintaining the fastest feasible response time.

You are using the way I responded to a thread complaining about gold spam to justify your questions. These threads are not gold spam reports; these threads are assertions, complaints, and questions about them. This is also perfectly acceptable, though we'd prefer for a minimum amount of threads be created and used for discussion on the matter.

Spamming the forums in retaliation will do nothing to solve the issue. We are aware of the severity of the issue and have many functionality changes planned to combat ad spam in the next patch. The Game Master department, however, has no jurisdiction over the introduction of functionality limitations to combat spam, nor will spamming this department provide us with such power.
