Ok, before everyone starts "freedom of speech, Blizzard aren't at fault", I've looked into this.

The spam advertisements we receive quite blatantely display the website and company names of who is tryin to sell the gold.

It is quite easy for Blizzard to sue, the companies are in the majority American based - don't argue if you haven't looked into it like me. These companies are advertising within privately owned servers - Imagine One car company standing a a hired spokesperson in another car companies lot. Illegal, no? Sueable? Yes.

Also, Blizzard can script an instant block into a msg sent with the name of the offending company in it.

I'm thinkin Blizzard is taking a cut to allow these sites to operate.

I mean, they can make a profanity filter right? Well I find it hard to believe they can't turn www.sellgold.com (for example) into @&#$%^&**()()&%.

Don't say "what if people want to mention the sites in chat". There's no need.

Hey Blizzard? L2Getoffyourarseandaddressissues.

It would take a few days to gather the site names, and BAM. Gone. 1 mb patch and fixed.

We have the following from this post http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=102905050&sid=1 going in as well as have some other things we are working on.

In the meantime, we'd appreciate if people continued to report any gold sellers/spammers in game so that we can keep better track of the offending parties and take care of them as we can.

We understand that this is an issue that many players are concerned with, and we are doing what we can to make reporting easier among other things. We would appreciate the forums not being filled up with their own kind of spam from repeat posts about gold spammers as well. I know people want to discuss it, but if possible constrain the discussion to just a couple of threads if possible.

Thanks.

Q u o t e:
Why don't you ban IPs?

Oh wait, you don't care.

It's a mat, that has conclusions written on it, that you can jump to!

How do you know we don't? In any case IP bans aren't very effective.
