This question has been bothering me for along time about buying WOW gold. And I am asking is it against the rules to buy WOW gold? Because I see a lot of pop-ups about it saying saling 1000g for $59. and other things like that. So is it? And if it is then why do people do it? What shall be the punishment if someone does?

Yes. Very much so.

There are many reasons; however, I believe the two most prevalent ones relate to either 1. not knowing policy or 2. believing he or she will not be caught.

To give you a fair idea, from How to Stay in the Game:
http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowaa/?id=aDisplay02046p

Q u o t e:
Exchange of World of Warcraft Currency/Goods/Services for non-World of Warcraft Currency/Goods/Services, and Vice-Versa (Buying/Selling Gold, Items, Characters, and/or Accounts)

Anyone offering World of Warcraft content for sale is attempting to steal from and deceive you, as no one is EVER allowed to sell any aspect of the World of Warcraft MMORPG except Blizzard and its licensees. Blizzard will not recognize the transaction resulting from the seller's prohibited behavior! Attempting to circumvent this rule by selling "the time put into the character" DOES NOT make such a sale legitimate, as the transaction still results in the transfer of World of Warcraft virtual property (which is acknowledged by every player as solely belonging to Blizzard Entertainment and/or its licensors) and in the seller receiving money.

Violations listed in this particular document are rather severe and will, in turn, illicit rather severe penalties. If one is discovered purchasing gold, any variety of actions may occur, from simply having the gold removed to potentially receiving an account closure.

I'd agree Pricilla but I will also answer your question, Taks. :)

Simply, Taks, we do.

We take advertising of gold selling, powerleveling, cheat sites very seriously. In fact we even created a whole new feature just to make it easier for our playerbase to report people who are found doing this. This is the Spam Prevention feature.

Please check out our sticky about it linked below.
