Posting on a friends' account. My password suddenly no longer works even though I never changed it, and my account email was changed to something else because the password recovery no longer works either. What happened? Did I get hacked? How can a hacker change my email without me getting a notification?

You may want to look into the information that Davejohnsan provided for you, Kazushi, but I can take a look if you can provide me with the Name and Realm of one of the characters on the account.

They can't have jacked my email address, my email works just fine and there is nothing in my deleted mail folder suggesting that my account was changed in any way.

It does look like someone else may have been responsible for changing the password though, Kazushi. I highly recommend checking your computer for keyloggers or other malicious programs.

I don't see a change to the e-mail address so once your computer is secure make sure you change your e-mails password.

Check your account to see if any items/gold were removed and submit an in-game petition if you find anything missing.

What do you mean the name recovery doesn't work?

Do you an error like the one listed below?

There are no account names that match the email address you provided. Please check the email address again for any missed or incorrect characters. If the account name is correct, please contact billing support at 1-800-592-5499

If you don't then an e-mail was sent to the registered e-mail address and you are either checking the wrong e-mail address or the e-mail is being blocked by a spam filter or ending up in the junk folder.

Ok, I'm was mistaken, please delete this thread.

Fixed that for you. :)

It happens to the best of us, I'm glad you were able to sort it out.

Good luck, Kazushi.
