That may be true, but I still stand by what I said. I've been posting on WoW boards since the game was released, and the General board is one of the only ones I don't like. You have to think very carefully about what you post over there, or you'll get flamed and your post will be worthless.
Just because one grows comfortable in the insulated environment that the CSF provides doesn't make them better than any given poster in General or any other subforum, and it's certainly not an excuse to propagate elitism.
You are not exempt from the same rules as everyone else just because you periodically or regularly help people here, and it's worth it for everyone to step back and remember that sometimes.
I really just want to encourage everyone to rethink their approach to posts by non-regulars here. It can't hurt.

Regardless, while I understand the tongue in cheek attitude that comes with identifying a thread that's been moved from General, it's best not to propagate a specific mental approach toward an entire segment of posters simply because of where the post originates. After all, no other forum can be moderated nearly as closely as this one.
One of the things that makes this forum so fantastic is that people can get help here when they may not be able to elsewhere. Anywhere else. Unfortunately, there's another side to that; while profanity and inappropriate references may not be the norm, a sort of flaming unique to this forum does seem to see some use.
I agree with Bel, in that it's best if we all take a step back and examine our posts and the attitude they present for a moment before we hit that 'Post' button. Please take that moment to consider if you'd want to participate in a thread that contained that post. Would you want such a post directed at you, if you were asking a question about something you lacked complete understanding of? Will directing an insult or condescension at the person you are responding to more easily help them see the point you are trying to make, or simply instill in them a steely resistance against your input?
You're all pretty fabulous people, and I'm constantly impressed with your speed, accuracy, insight and knowledge. You guys are easily one of the very best things about the World of Warcraft forums in my opinion, and it saddens me to ever see that sullied with anger, hostility or exclusionary attitudes.
Do I expect anyone to be nice all the time? No, not really. Honestly, I can't really expect that the posters here do anything beyond posting within the bounds of the CoC. Am I thrilled and delighted when I see one of you go above and beyond, expressing kindness, patience and wisdom? Absolutely. Am I dismayed and disappointed when I see unnecessary sarcasm, cruelty or hostility? I have to admit that I am.

That 'unnecessary' is an important qualifier. As I mentioned, my post was not directed at any one poster or group of posters, but rather, a reminder for us to be aware of our conduct.
It's not even as though this is a frequent issue - not even remotely. I only brought it up because the timing seemed apropos, and we can all use a reminder now and then.
*chuckle* It's not as though I wander around the office in a nun's habit, clucking my tongue at the iniquities of our posters. On the contrary, I often express voluble appreciation =).
