PvP server ethics

Greetings

I recently decided to try out a PvP server ( my main, and all my other chars were leveled on a normal one ). As i couldn't be bothered to start leveling again, and wanted to try the class, i made a dk. Now, my question is, is it common and acceptable behavior to kill absolutely every member of the opposing faction you see? So far, every ally of a lower or the same level that has ran past me has been presented with the option of releasing now or waiting 5 minutes.

So, is that your approach to playing on PvP servers? Or do you for example only attack people of your level?

Ethics on PvP realms... I don't think there are any established ones that are universally agreed upon.

I have met people on PvP realms who only play by one rule, which is the 'if it is red it is dead unless I'm dead first' rule. I have also met players who are complete carebears, who never fight enemy players unless the enemy players attack first... these players are the ones who usually have various friendly emotes macroed for enemy interaction purposes :-)

Most of the people I have met on PvP realms however, usually have some sort of honour code they like to play by, such as 'never attack if an enemy player is grey' and 'never attack if an enemy player is in the middle of a fight or not at full health'.

I guess what I am trying to say is that acceptable behaviour in PvP is always in the eye of the beholder ;-)
