I quitted WoW a while ago. Left my very first account going "frozen" and the other i got are nearly on their end as well.
Last week i receive an email from Blizzard with the note that I can try out WotLK on the first account. Since its not on it yet.
I didnt bother, trashed the email after reading, since i wont come back for a silly 10day trial anyway.
This week this is what I get;
"Greetings,
Please read this mail carefully, as we would like to see your issue addressed as fast as possible.
An investigation of the World of Warcraft account *** has produced evidence that the account has been accessed by someone who is not allowed to use it. We have therefore temporarily suspended all access to the account to prevent further abuse, until our investigation has been completed. Our aim is to conclude the investigation as soon as possible and we will contact you again regarding your suspension.
Account compromises are usually the result of the registered player of the account sharing his or her login information or playing on a computer that has a virus.
Please remember that it is your responsibility to keep your login information confidential. Any account that is registered to your name may not be shared with anyone except for one minor, of whom you are acting as a parent or guardian. You are also responsible for every use of your login information, whether authorized or not.
Please make sure that you are using the most current routines for your anti-virus software."
Yes indeed, my frozen account got hacked!
I check the armory, they deleted my Paladin Bjarga. And on my warlock Callisira they trashed my enchanting and leveled up mining to 450.
Gear wasnt touched at all. Just the odd profession change.
So i contact Blizzard trough webform (as there is no phonenumber for hacked accounts apparently). Stating that it is my account, that it has been hacked and that it was even "frozen" since release of WotLK.
Blizzard doesnt bother to reply me for 3 days until today...
"Greetings,
We are writing to inform you that we have, unfortunately, had to cancel your World of Warcraft account:
Account Name: ***
Type of Violation: Involvement in online trading activities
Investigation Concluded: 15/05/2009
Consequences for Account: Account Cancellation
It is with regret that we take this type of action, however, it is in the best interest of the World of Warcraft community as a whole, and for the integrity of the game, that your access to the World of Warcraft servers be cancelled.
Online trading refers to the exchange of in-game content for real world money, and includes, but is not limited to, the sale or purchase of gold, the sale or purchase of experience in the form of powerlevelling, and the sale or purchase of honor points, reputation or items.
Account access is the responsibility of the account owner and account sharing is against our Terms of Use (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/legal/termsofuse.html). Therefore, should you believe someone other than yourself (the account owner) has committed this violation of the Terms of Use with your account, these sanctions would still apply, as our action is taken against the account, not the individual.
If you wish to review our current Rules and Polices, they can be found at:

Now, i wonder where the customer care is here. I didnt even got a change to defend myself in this case. When they have obvious evidence that the account got hacked by using this damn trial mail...
They dont bother to reply. Just stating its my own fault.
I dont go on dubious sites, i got several good virus etc scanners (im a bit paranoid after virus attacks on pc in past).
So all it takes was a lil mail coming from Blizzard (!!!) with an offer to upgrade your account with a 10-day trial.
Be aware for such mail everyone.
Just wanted to share this, as after this i am 100% sure not to return on WoW.
*** edit;
Q u o t e:
l think blizzard blew their cover here.
if all this is true in fact.
It is true, believe me i wouldnt go round and spread lies.
The handlings (actually they didnt handle at all but closed my account quickly), really ticked me off.
I get a mail from Blizz themselves, then suddenly i get hacked while the account is frozen... weird if you ask me.
And I sended back a mail to confirm i was the owner (with even a copy of my drivers license etc). And the only thing i get is a total closure...
After all I payed for this account 4 years ago. I leveled the characters on it. Will Blizzard pay ME a character transfer? As they state that the action is taken against the account. So what if i would like to get my characters that are still remaining on it?
