How to discover who owns what alts?

Hi there

I belong to a fairly large guild and we often get people who are a pain.

They get kicked but sometimes rejoin on their alts just for the purpose of griefing an individual or the guild as a whole

I wondered if there was a way of tracking these alts?

There is no way for you to check if members of your guild have other characters on their accounts, which means there is no method available to you for tracking alts of other players without the consent of said players.

It is therefore often a good idea to note down which characters in your guild are the alts of which main characters. Doing this is probably the best way of keeping track on who is who in your guild, and if someone wishes to join your guild claiming they are an alt, but refuse to identify who their main is, then it is probably someone who doesn't belong in your guild :-)

If someone is griefing your guild, please do not hesitate to report them to the game masters in-game. Be sure to include a short description of the nature of the griefing, the name of the character(s) involved and also the time and date the incident(s) took place.

Its a good idea to ask who the alt belongs to and ask them to confirm this on their main character.

Indeed :-)

Also, limiting the number of people who can send invites may also be a good idea. If for an example only trusted members, officers or elders can send invites, then it is less likely to that unwanted people will be welcomed into your guild.

That, however, doesn't stop people joining on alts that you don't know about 'griefing' the guild for kicking them in the first place.

I guess all you can do is keep kicking the alts until they run out of space on the server. :l

Guilds managed by GuildMasters who really care for their guilds and selected trustworthy members in guilds that raids endgame content or such are mostlikelly not inviting every single one they can either.
They handpick them and the ones who gets picked are probably not running around in or showing up for a raid in greens either.

Common sense gets you far on this and guilds who constantly invites people who are guildless without a single word first are more or less asking for truble.
Also i have strong doubts the "good" ones you guys are out looking for (and new good players always pops up) will be guildless if they wanted to be in one.
Expecially not at lvl 80.

As stated earlier, if they refuse to say who their "main" is, then it most likelly not so interesting for them to join either.

This is all very true :-)

And if a player still manages to get invited to the guild, who then starts to grief and be abusive despite all the precautions and common sense mentioned before in this thread, then the next move would be to report that abusive and griefing player to the game masters in-game.
