The False Dichotomy Of Main-spec & Off-spec

Many people seem to be stuck in the obsollete paradigm om main-spec and off-specc, what they need to realise is that there are currently 3 specs, your current spec, your other spec and off-spec.
What this means in terms of loot is that if one of your 2 specs can use a certain piece of gear you should need it EVEN IF you are currently not in that spec.
The only time you should ask if needing is ok is if you are rolling for an item you cannot use in either of your 2 specs and so is designated an off-spec item.

But of course things are in flux as people come to grips with this new reality and it is advisable to discuss needing everytime a piece you want drops to avoid conflicts in this tumultous time.

While some of you will certainly be incensed by this policy do remeber that the door swings both ways, in the end the RNG will be the final arbitter being both inscrutable and equal to all participants.

Well I think that it is evident that some adaptation is required since Dual Specs have been introduced to the game, but mostly I think that it is just a matter of making it common to have the rules clarified and agreed upon by everybody in the group before entering a dungeon.

In pretty much every group I have been in, with a few exceptions of course, the loot rules for dungeons have always been need before greed, and also main spec before off spec, and I honestly think that Dual Specs have not change these rules, at least not a lot. I think that people will need to make it clear before starting which specs will be considered their main spec, and therefore the one that will be taken into consideration when rolling on loot.
