After the defeat of Kill'jaeden and the taking of the sunwell, there was a brief moment of peace. however it was not long before the Lich King send his troops upon the city's of alliance and horde. And so the mighty champions who fought to stop Kill'jaeden now sailed towards northrend to face evil once more. and so did the head of kael'thas.
As a relic of victory it was brought to northrend yet victory was not achieved, trapped in the mist the champions got ambushed by vrykul raiders and the head of Kael'thas fell into the hands of the Lich Kings servants.
Aware of his servants findings he ordered the head to be brought into Icecrown Citadel, there it was given to the most wicked of the Lich Kings servants, the alchemists and doctors who were responsible for creating the scourges most fiercesome creations. deep within the dungeons of Icecrown Citadel a powerfull body was created and Kael'thas' head was sewn on.
Kael'thas' new and lifeless body was brought before the Lich King, and a dark gift was bestowed upon it. Kael'thas was reborn, as a servant of the Lich King.
Slowly his powers returned as he mastered to control his new body, and so the Lich King gave him a task. He had to enter the conquered citadel of naxxramas and find the hidden phylactery of Kel'thuzad, if he managed to find and bring it back to Icecrown he would be rewarded greatly.
And so Kael'thas departed towards naxxramas. Inside naxxramas he incinerated the few remaining adventurers and took the hidden phylactery of Kel'thuzad and brought it to Icecrown.
The phylactery was brought before the Lich King and Kel'thuzad was raised again. Pleased with Kael'thas' succes Arthas bestowed him with the same gift as he had done before with Kel'thuzad.
Kael'thas has now become a Lich one of the most powerfull servants of the Lich King, but not an ordinary lich. Kael'thas is the first of the Ember Liches, masters of fire and destuction. and from the ashes of the fallen he raises fort an army.... Magisters' terrace was merely a set back...
