The purpose of the ELP is to allow players with a single game client installed to switch between the languages the game has been localized to. This means that a player with for an example a French client can quickly switch the language of his client into English, instead of having to install an additional English client in parallel to his French client.

The ELP is not made for translating the game into languages it has not been localized to, hence the reason why there is no Italian language pack. The question of whether or not we are ever going to localize World of Warcraft into Italian is a question that there are no answers to at this moment in time.

But there is at least some help to get for those Italian players who are not yet familiar with the English Language, because some of our Italian players have spent a little more than 3 years translating quests from English into Italian, and all this work has resulted in a very nice addon that automatically displays Quest Log text in Italian. The name of this addon is QuestTranslator2 2.0, and so far there are more than 6500 quests that have been translated into Italian: http://wow.multiplayer.it/default.cfm?paginaweb=quest_qt2.cfm
