04/02 Realms and migration

Recommended realms
Normal/PvE: Saurfang
PvP: Chromaggus, Vek'nilash, Xavius
RP: The Sha'tar
RP PvP: Sporeggar

Saurfang (normal/PvE), Battlegroup Misery, opened January 31 as a fresh realm (no migration to the realm for 90 days).


Free Character Migration (FCM)
Please note that any migration may be closed at any time should a destination realm's population rise too high.

Due to population differences, the following FCM will be available from February 4th to 10th:

Al'Akir, Stormscale --> Vek'nilash, Xavius
Burning Legion, Grim Batol --> Boulderfist, Trollbane
Crushridge, Sylvanas --> Chromaggus, Haomarush
Kazzak, Ravencrest --> Laughing Skull, Sunstrider
Outland, Twilight's Hammer --> Daggerspine, Lightning's Blade
Ragnaros, Shattered Hand --> Kor'gall, Shattered Halls

Argent Dawn --> Steamwheedle Cartel, The Sha'tar


Additionally, to improve the faction ratio on Magtheridon, the following migrations are available from February 4th to 10th:

Horde only: Magtheridon --> Haomarush, Tarren Mill, Trollbane, Zenedar, Silvermoon (PvE)
Alliance only: Aerie Peak, Aggramar, Alonsus, Arathor, Azjol-Nerub, Bronze Dragonflight, Bronzebeard, Eonar, Hellscream, Khadgar, Lightbringer, Kilrogg, Kul Tiras, Silvermoon, Terenas, Turalyon --> Magtheridon (PvP)


Paid Character Transfers (PCT)
Chamber of Aspects is available as a destination despite not being 90 days old. This because it was opened as a migration realm.

Ahn’Qiraj Gates Open on All New Realms (added 06/02/2009)
Going forward, the gates of Ahn’Qiraj will start out open on all new realms that are created. While we recognize that this is a unique event, we feel that the complexity of this event can cause various issues that negatively impacts a player’s game play experience. By automatically opening the gates and allowing immediate access to the Ahn’Qiraj instances, we would like to promote the higher level content that is available as well as ensure a smooth overall experience for players on these new realms.

We don't do FCM by request. It might happen that we open for the realms you wish for, but then that's a coincidence. If you're waiting for a specific migration, you will likely wait for a very long time. ;-)

It's probably a well-known fact that the best realm in the world is a pvp server, but since the server ruleset difference is emphasised for Silvermoon, it might be worth doing the same for Magtheridon.

This will not apply to already open realms (like Saurfang) that have the gates closed right now.

We will generally not comment or speculate on the chances of a realm being included in the FCM. If we do decide to open free migration from a realm it will be announced only when the migration has been found warranted and thus opened.

What about balancing other servers too? Afaik on Boulderfist there's 4 horde for every 1 ally, and that cannot even be the worst ratio out there.

It's improving quite a bit, but some additional people moving can still help. Please note that Magtheridon was in a unique situation. No other English realm is even close to the bad ratio on that realm.
