Hi,

Are you trying to install Burning Crusade over World of Warcraft version 3.0.3?

Hi,

If you have or had version 3.0.3 installed on your system before you decided to upgrade your account to Burning Crusade, you shouldn't need to install TBC as this data was included in a migration patch released last year (2.4.3 - 3.0.1)

You would only need to upgrade your account to TBC to gain access to the TBC content (if you had 3.0.3 installed)

This is an error that we would like to have more information as it's a particular error that has only just appeared in the last week or so.

If you are getting this error please tell us exactly what and how you have installed World of Warcraft, this information is important as it will narrow down what may be the cause.

Prior to this error...

- Did you have the WOTLK patch 3.0.3 Installed(this is the current patch all users should have installed)

If you have just re-installed

- Did you install from the original World of Warcraft Disk(s) (4 CD-ROM / 5 CD-ROM / BattleChest DVD / Retail DVD / Online Installer)
- Did you install any patches, after installing World of Warcraft (if yes what patch version?)
- Did you attempt to Install TBC from Disks (if yes, 4 CD-ROM / Battle Chest DVD, Retail DVD)

If possible could you detail the timeline, of what and how you are installing World of Warcraft, all the way back to the start.

I know the above may appear confusing, I am just trying to narrow down what may be triggering this error and if it's something we can recreate it may help us find a solution.

Hi

This sounds like I have the same problem as Bloodyhunter.

Just tried to upgrade my account to TBC but it came up with the following error message at 25%:-

The patch "Pass1\MPQs-1\unconditional\Data#patch-enGB.MPQ\DBFilesClient
\CreatureSoundData.dbc~Patch(Data#enGB#locale-enGB,110725)"could not be applied.
(Invalid source file size:expected 73341, actual 158529.) If this problem persists, please contact
Blizzard Technical Support. (BNUpdate::PTCapply)

Originally ran the free 10 day trial between 04/01/09 - 15/01/09
Bought WoW Battlechest and upgraded to full account (original game only) on 15/01/09
Note - after installing the first time it would not allow me to play so i ran the installation again after which it downloded the latest patch (3.0.3 (9183)). The game then ran fine.
Tried to upgrade to TBC on 19/01/09.

I'm running Windows XP with the latest service pack

Hope this is of use.

Where you using the Streaming Client or did you download and install the full client when you have a trial account.

I installed the classic version of the game from the orignial disks, when I tried to play the game my computer proceeded to download WOW alover again, which took hours, then when I tried to play it patched, more hours, I've had one day of fun and frollicks upon which I decided to go out and buy the Burning crusade expansion.

Got it home and attemped to install. it wouldn't. I got to about 25% and got the "patch" error message detailed above.

I read this forum and read the section where some gimp tech guy said that you shouldn't need to install Burning crusade if you have the lastest patch, so me being to daft to think he might be a retard I went and upgraded my account with the key in my box. Loaded WOW, works fine except IT WONT LET ME PLAY COS i HAVE A BURNING CRUSADE ACCOUNT NOW AND I DONT HAVE IT INSTALLED.

So cheers mate, not only can I not use the Burning crusade I just spent a tenner on, I cant play the game at all, so I have to borrow the disks again, reinstall everything and then patch again, by which time it will be tomorrows maintanence and I wont got on till tomorrow afternoon, 24 hours after I tried to put the expansion pack on.

Nice to know that 40,000,000 a month you guys make in subs goies on something worthwhile.

Knobs!

That is because you have attempted to install TBC from CD's on top of the installed version. As I mentioned if you had version 3.0.3 installed and you upgraded your account you do not need to install Burning Crusade.

To fix this you will need to use the WOWIntaller and download Burning Crusade from our website:

Can someone please help because its kind of annoying not being able to play a game you've just bought while the subscription is slowly running out.

Can you please change your password and try again.
