BUT
You run the risk of many people who really contribute to their respective class' running away. Its just too much info to sift through. So i have a suggestion.
Keep class forums and add these 3 new role forums. Then if a post is found in the class forums to have good "General" tanking/dps/healing tactics in it, then request that the original poster copy it to the role forum. We as a community are generally quite good at spotting these diamonds on the forums, and usually report for sticky or something. That way you can still have your role discussion forums, but we can keep our homes.
Anyone who believes that they have a good post or piece of advice to give to the "Role specific community" can do that on the role forums.
If not then i guess we have to preface everything with [class] [suggestion] [i found ou..] crap i ran out of space in the topic, i guess you have to open it to find out what i am talking about and waste more time reading useless posts.
Run them both in tandem. The one and only reason i can think of for making this change is footwork. The Blizz forum teams find it quite hard to sift through class forums to find anything useful. So reduce the number of class specific discussions and you reduce your time spent on the forums??.
Please see the downside here. If i want to post a suggestion about my class, i invite flamers from other classes. I get frustrated and dont post again because nobody likes getting attacked by flamers, we either back off or go for the jugular. All posts about a class turn into...... flame fests. then all discussions specific to classes fall away and we have 3 characters to choose from on the character creation screen, dps, heal, tank.
Want to implement any other silly ideas that result in Homogenizing the classes and discussions??? Oh wait i thought that this is what you have been trying to steer clear of?? My mistake.
Sorry i had to throw one 12yr old comment in there. Please save the class forums for people who don't want to spend time reading through other classes rubbish. Use role forums as a repository for good posts that get reported in a class specific forum, or a place where people that actually want to talk about tanking in general can go.
/sign if your with me!!!!
