World of Warcraft released in Europe.

However, what did you do / play before WoW got released? Where you even playing games? If not - what then? And if yes, which? Thats the question!

For me I was generally playing shooters. Counterstrike was an example, I clearly remember being called "bunnyhopper" in other shooters, referring to CS since lots of people used to do that (and you get a hard time trying to shoot that person down while he's hopping). I was playing MMORPG's back then too, being a big fan of RPG games so it seemed quite obvious that I would be playing MMORPG's. Though mostly the free ones, the one I played most of the time was Conquer Online. It was rubbish really.

At that time I did hear alot about WoW, read and saw lots of reviews upon release, but I just couldn't be bothered with it (and didn't want to!) as I couldn't actually pay a monthly fee back then, so I didn't want to get excited about something I wouldn't be playing anyway. It was a bit annoying since it looked so awesome, but I just continued with other stuff.

And today, it hasn't changed too much. Still playing shooters, but less, and more singleplayer shooters (I've been playing HL2-EP2 alot lately). And ofcourse switched the "free MMORPG's" for WoW!

So yes, what did you do before WoW?

It was either City of Heroes (some US server.. maybe Victory) or Star Wars Galaxies (EU Chimaera server).
