Not enough space on my hard drive for WotlK!

Ok i've very stupidly installed WoW onto my smallest hard disk drive (C) and now no longer have enough space to be able to install WotlK when its released. I have managed to copy the entire WoW folder including all patches/files from the C drive over to my much larger D drive.

Now if i delete the ENTIRE WoW folder from the C drive i have a feeling i will cause myself a whole world of hurt when trying to download future patches/expansions (as i assume they will try and download themselves to the C drive?). So my main questions is, how do i change where the future patches will download to, i now want them to be downloaded onto the D drive (with loads more space).

I am aware i could just reinstall WoW but id rather not have to go through downloading all those patches again! I would be so damn greatful if someone could offer a solution to my situation.

Thanks for your time!

Hi,

You should be able to copy the whole World of Warcraft folder across to your D:\ drive no problem, the game itself is not so heavy on registry settings so it will run the game even after moving the games directory to another location.

Just remember that if you do move the game in this way, make sure to first of all run the game directly from the wow.exe file, this will create updated registry settings telling Windows where the game is installed, this will save you alot of problems when patching.

And finally you should also create a shorcut on your desktop for the launcher.exe file.
