"You will get no sympathy when ret is nerfed"

This morning I woke up to see Divine Storm nerfed, and promises of more nerfs.

It's fine. I'm used to it.
I'm used to 2 (4?) years of playing a gimped specc, and I understand how abusive it was for the community to have to endure an entire evening of "ret overpowerdness". Sorry guys, we apologize, we know our place.

What ennerved me was seeing people say "stop gloating, you will get no sympathy when you're nerfed". Hello? What?

When did we ever get sympathy before? Did anyone show any kind of sympathy for the years of being horrible gimps? Do you know what Lolret means? Does Lolret equal to "sympathy" to you?

I've not gone around gloating about this newfound power. I didn't even log in last night - I've tried lvl 80 ret before. I know all too well that ret is (was?) overpowered at 70. There's no doubt about it.
All I hoped for, and possibly asked, was for people to have a moment of patience - a brief period of patience because maybe, just maybe the drooling masses of abused players that were screaming nerf of forums were wrong. Yet, it wasn't clearly possible.

And history repeats. Rewind back to 2.01. Talents from TBC go live. Ret paladins melt faces in battlegrounds with Crusader Strike. Nerf cries ensue, and Crusader Strike is nerfed. You know how it ended. Paladins were junk through all of TBC, probably because of the overdone reaction to 2 weeks of crying on forums.

And today? The same stupid crap. Our 51 pointer is nerfed, exactly like our 31 pointer was right before TBC. It became a weak version of a warrior baseline ability, just like Crusader Strike became a weak autoattack on cooldown.
What can we say? Thanks, I guess. I'm sorry if some stupid paladins gloated about their nefound power. I guess they forgot about the constant stream of sympathy paladins have received. Reporting some examples:

"don't intend to leave it until ret palas are being sent back to the abyss! "

"below the ground" is the next step"

"I hope a quick fix comes within a few days like they did to feral druids just after TBC... "

"Funny how everyone says Paladins are fine, are Paladins with sub 1500 ratings. " (from a warrior, clearly thinking that if he's high rated it's because his class is fine and he's a ninja, and if most paladins are low rated it's because while their class is fine they're clearly scrubs, and if tomorrow paladins become as high rated as warriors are today well, it's clearly not gonna be skills)

"I bet you're a typical Retri Paladin as well, who believes it was his class that kept him below 1500." (Same warrior, probably thinking skills are what made warriors get to 20% 2200+ representation and ret paladins being 5% of the 5.95% of paladins in that bracket)

"Just a matter of time till we all get to 80 and retardins are put back to where they belong - mediocrity."

I could go on all day. You know the song.
If that's your "sympathy", well, keep it. We have little use for it.

I think most ret paladins are well aware that at 70 we are redicolous. We just know our history. We know the price we payed for being "overtuned" for a month at lvl 60, at a time when nothing mattered and no competition were on. We payed that month with 2 years of being horrible in TBC. Today we payed one evening with the demolition of our 51 pointer. Before the end of the week, we will probably get to a state more akin to "keeping us in our place" through WotLK. Bring it on, we're used to it.

Meanwhile, since we won't need your "sympathy" anymore, maybe you want to display some for those 3-4 classes that got actual benefits from being overpowered for years, including easymode routes to incredible epics and becoming eighty percent of the gladiator population.

This is what really baffles me. Apparently one evening of "ret being overpowered" when the friggin arena season has ended has offended people more than 2 years of 4 classes dominating pvp althogether. And we're getting lectured by *warriors* about being humble and admitting we're overpowered.
Good god. Bring on more nerfs. They're better than this "sympathy" anyway.
