Hi, I'm a total noob and i don't have a clue what a mob is.
Anyone care to enlighten me? lol

If I recall correctly, I believe it started back in MUD days, and "mob" is an abbreviation of the term "mobile object". Since then I guess it has just stuck around in the MMO world, and is per today used as a reference to (hostile) NPCs/creatures with which you fight for experience, loot or whatever other reason.
