Getting AddOn help

I see many posts here, asking for help, but looking like the poster was simply too lazy to look for themselves.

If you want people to help you, show them you're not lazy. Give some of the steps you've already tried. Show people you're making an effort and more than likely they will step up to point you in the right direction.

Which do you think looks better:

'Help, I need a mod'
or
'Help, I looked on this site, in this category, found mod x and y but didn't find exactly what I was looking for.'

Some player comments:

  • when a macro or addon gives an error, please say exactly what the error is, rather than "it didn't work".
  • If you want to ask what an AddOn from a movie is. Don't post a link to the movie. Most of us are not going to download a movie just to help you. Find a screenshot with the AddOn, and be as specific as possible. Don't just ask "what is this UI?" instead describe which parts of the screenshot interest you.
Or even better:- Edit the sreenshot so only the mod youwant it there, so we don't have to wait for a big shot to load. Also check the credits of the movie, soem list the mods.
