Private servers

This might be a stupid question but where do Blizzard stand on private servers?

It sounds like the sort of thing they would have an objection to.

I have seen alot of videos about 'GM power' filmed on private servers.

And I'm not a future privateer or anything. I lack the knowledge, funding and equipment for it. But why would someone want to play on such a server?
