Warcraft's history abounds with heroic tales, fierce battles, and painful losses that have had a lasting impact on the world of Azeroth. This series, "The Library," presents fiction depicting some of the Warcraft universe's most epic moments and greatest mysteries.

Something is wrong in the lands of Azeroth. Many of the world's slumbering inhabitants are tormented by nightmares from which they cannot escape. The few who do awaken are offered no reprieve: They are haunted by horrific visions, while mists ridden with gruesome shapes spread throughout the waking world.

As more individuals fall victim to this malady, Azeroth's druids struggle to heal the ailing World Tree of Teldrassil. One druid of the convocation, the stout-hearted Broll Bearmantle, suspects something dark at work behind Teldrassil's weakened state. He is soon called upon to aid the valiant High Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind after she learns that Malfurion Stormrage, her comatose mate, is dying. Although Malfurion's dreamform had become lost within the Emerald Dream some time ago, only recently has his condition worsened. Strangely, Malfurion's decline in health appears to coincide with Teldrassil's illness and the sinister force terrorizing Azeroth's sleepers....

Along with the extraordinary human Lucan Foxblood and the brave orc Thura, Tyrande and Broll set out to find Malfurion's lost dreamform. In the process they learn that the Emerald Nightmare — a shadowy affliction that has taken root within the Dream — is responsible for the conditions of Malfurion, Teldrassil, and Azeroth's sleeping denizens. So powerful is the Nightmare that even some of the Dream's majestic green dragon guardians have become twisted and crazed. With the Nightmare's influence growing unabated, only one option remains for Tyrande and her comrades: Journey into the corrupted regions of the Dream and locate Malfurion themselves.

Immerse yourself in the Emerald Dream with Richard A. Knaak's novel Stormrage as Tyrande, Broll, Lucan, and Thura risk everything to save not only Malfurion, but also all of Azeroth from the Nightmare's grasp. This riveting tale offers many revelations about Azeroth's legendary characters and sets the scene for new developments in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
