The game needs a real /anonymous option

In The Lord of the Rings online, you have a /anonymous flag you can turn on and off.

When it's on, it has two effects:

1) Nobody can see you on /who. Only your friends (friendlist) and your guildmates can see if you are online. This is not only nice when you just want to grind some cloth in peace, but also reduces the gold farmer spam to nil.

2) Nobody can examine your gear, stats, talents (traits in LOTRO), etc... you simply get "this character can't be examined because he's anonymous". It would be nice to have this in WoW too, and extend it so that if you're anonymous in game, you're also anonymous on the armory.

I see some ask "and how is this related to PvP"?

Simple. When I'm in the queue for the arena, the last thing I want is future opponents to see what trinkets I use, what equipment I have, etc... some of course can be visually guessed, but trinket, totems, librams, and also enchants on armor can't. Same for talents, last thing I want is a future opponent to know my exact build.
