Does anyone even care about lore?

Some people say that WOW has somekind of story and that there are many interesting lores. Many things in Cataclysm is based on the existing lore, but how many of you actually care about it.

Normally I do actually read what people are saying, or what the quests are about. But in wow I already know what they are about. It is about killing some poor animals and stealing their legs or head, and then bringing it to some chap who is going to make soup from it.

Sometimes I actually have to kill some evil doer for some random reason and then fly back to get my reward which is normally a green useless item. All these quests are tied to lore ... somehow.

Sometimes when you talk to a person (non-quest giver) you might get important info on what is happening in the realm of world of warcraft.

What is the story in wow? Is it about horde and alliance in war, demons from space invading or the undead lich king breaking havoc?
