Locking of a particular thread

No doubt this thread will also incur the wrath of the padlock, but it did seem strange, that despite a constructive discussion in one thread about Real ID IN GAME, rather than Real ID in the forum, this thread was locked.

Moreover, it contained a bit more than just the typical 'Real ID will kill us all' 'we now live in fear' sort of post'; it was a detailed albeit quite technical post, but nonetheless there were several posters with more network knowledge agreeing that the Real ID ingame could be more than what meets the eye.

(I appreciate how CMs are finding it tough to lock all the threads wavering the rules, and how it's sometimes easier to lock any thread with 'Real ID' in the title, regardless of topic.)

Q u o t e:
Do not post about (or re-post) locked or deleted threads

Posts that are locked or deleted have a reason behind the moderation. We generally lock before we post on a locked thread to stop the violation in question as soon as possible, so if you have yet to see a comment by a member of the community team on a locked thread, please wait for it and do not post on the subject. In some cases the moderator may consider the reason obvious enough to not need explaining, or simply not wish to bring the post back to the top of the forums.

Additionally, please keep feedback and discussion about Real ID to the stickied thread. Thank you.
