Seriously, GMs - take the message back to blizzard. We do not want this invasion of privacy. This is not something to be laughed off with 'tinfoil hats' like you've done every other time there's been an issue of privacy management.
Quite apart from anything else, your justification that it is 'voluntary because you choose to post on the forums' is a fiction that can be picked apart within minutes
Finally, as for your reasoning - "It will help prevent trolling" etc :- No, it won't. Facebook's forums are as bad in places as the WoW forums. Telling people names won't help that, since the computer screen is still in the way.
All it allows is for those who wish to abuse the system to do so - it's not that hard to find someone once you've got their name. This is why it is usually illegal to do such a thing.
So - Lock this thread, as I'm sure you will.
But do your jobs and report the forums disdain for this moronic idea back. Hopefully you are doing so anyway.
