I'm not going to be completely biased here. So, let me see. Why would have Blizzard implemented this in the first place? To make the community feel more 'together'? Fair enough. To prevent nasty discussions and trolling? Fair enough. I can understand why Blizzard want this to happen, but I honestly do not see why it's so necessary.
Now. Why don't I like it? I'm not a paranoid person, and my name isn't that uncommon. So even if people wanted to Google my name, it's unlikely they'd find the real me. But that isn't the case for some people. Real names or not, people are still going to troll and argue and getting annoyed at others on the forums. There *will* be cases of people Googling others names, finding their Facebook accounts or other websites of their's that they use. And this just isn't right, and all I can see is this resulting in a lot more bad than good.
Personally, I can't think of any website that has a forum where you post using your real *full* name. Blizzard, if you really want this to happen, maybe using people's first names instead of surnames as well would be a better idea? Or at least letting people change their name on their account? Because really, I don't want my full name to be shown to a bunch of randoms. And not just randoms, keyloggers, people who spread viruses, anything.
Blizzard, come on. This is NOT Facebook. WoW is NOT a social networking site. Just because it's an MMO and we interract with people doesn't mean I want a bunch of people I barely or don't even know seeing my name. And I'm sure plenty of people feel the same way. And if anyone agrees that this is a good idea, it's purely because they just want to see the troll wars on the forums happening. But trust me, they aren't going to end just like that.
I know this is a community. And I know we should act like a community. But this is a video game, and it's being taken too far now.
