Never fear the crafty Americans have come up with a way to turn it off until they fix the security and privacy issues with the system in it's current form.
Q u o t e:.
Then I suggest you enable parental controls on your account. It's the only way to disable RealID
RealID is enabled unless you disable it via Parental Controls. To use it, you have to add a friend, or have them add you, but it IS enabled if you aren't using it, it's a technicality and it's an important one.
If you are at all worried about the security concerns off handing out you battle.net email which by the way is something Blizzard advise you against, and having you information passed on to 3rd parties you don't know go into you battle.net account management and set up the parentals control you can then turn off the RealID feature and keep your personal information that bit safer.
I for one will not be going anywhere near this until it is fixed to protect the information that I show to other people and not thier friends list as well. Numerous suggestions have been made both here and on the American forums, and I'm not going to list them again. Niether am I going to turn this in to a Blizzard bashing exercise if they don't want to comment that is thier perogative I just hope they are taking the comments that as being rasied onboard
I sign off with this point from the Americans
Remember...
Real ID = Billing information = Hacker bait
