The reason is that I suspect it of creating server lag during raid times. When it is wednesday and also on thursday (the days my guild raid) we always experience server lag. I dont think that the extra players in it an sich create that lag by just playing in there. However the Gearscore addon does send a request about gear to the server every 5 - 10 seconds or so for each player in the raid.
I have an addon that actually shows me the incoming and outgoing information for each player in the raid and Gearscore is always on top of them (in a 25 pug it is even higher then the healers LibComm addon they use for healing) With all those requests going on i think it creates server lag which is highly annoying when whiping due to it with the limited attempts.
I would also like to recommend everyone to turn off the addon and go to www.gearscore.info if you want to know your gearscore so badly. it does exactly the same as the addon, but doesn't influence the server performance.
