Celestial Steed Review

Yesterday for 30 mins while 2000+ people waited to buy their Celestial Steed I thought to myself 2000+ wow it is quite popular. Today I find out that more than 150,000 people in the US and Europe paid for this mount. When I just logged on in Dalaran alone I counted 17 Steed's that people had paid 20 euros for. So simple maths tells you that Blizzard yesterday from this mount, made at least 3 million euros in a space of a few hours.

So I feel there will be a lot more vanity items in the future sold at the store. Which I feel if you got the money why not. After all this game is your hobby and your just spending money on your hobby and you can use it on all your toons on your account.

But, I feel I wasted my money on this mount, Why? because it just doesn't suit a Rogue (Pally, DK Atls) and makes my toons look like a bit of a joke sitting on it. Anything bigger than a Human/Blood Elf looks just plain silly on it. Because at the end of the day this is a pony and it doesn't scale. My Tauren Druid looks so stupid I actually laughed myself at him. Certain classes don't look right on it. My Death Knight for instance with his dark skull modeled armor sitting on a magical pony looks a bid sad, I think it suits a priest and mage better.

The actually steed itself looks pretty just standing there but soon as it is in motion it just doesn't look right. The legs look to rubbery and just bounce around as if somone had snapped the bones in it's legs (probs my Tauren Druid :P ) and in flight again just doesn't look right somehow. And I actually am to embarassed to use my steed on my main and my 2 most used alts.

But I do feel that this is the future of vanity items in WoW. Yesterday Blizzard said ok here's a mount, so wheres the money? And they made a killing!! So they would be mad and stupid not to sell more vanity items from the store. BUT will this be the start of something much worse? selling useful items via the store? only time will tell.
