At this point I fail to hear enough NOISE about this.

So I troll it again in advance

I REFUSE THE CANCELLATION OF STATS IN CATACLYSM.
caps on purpose.

Because those stats are also what makes the difference between a ordinary, and an exceptional player.
The reason the changes are being made to the stats in Cataclysm isn't so that it becomes a thoughtless process when it comes to considering an upgrade, but to take away the need to calculate a million different possibilities using spreadsheets and such.

The problem is that items were becoming saturated with a plethora of stats that were being added to try and create new ways of min-maxing characters, but ultimately it led to situations where some stats were just flavour, and others were becoming far too mandatory. With the new system it will be clearer what you want to aim for, but ultimately without the danger of creating stats that just scale out of control, or become unmanageable. You will still have to put thought into what you consider an upgrade, or how you want your character to be balanced, or what stats to focus on.
