Learning basics of french using wow?

Just had an idea, i have always wanted to learn another language. Do you think i could learn the basics of a language like french by playing on a mainly french speaking realm?. I think it could me, because the motivation to learn bits of french would be great i think, and i would have to learn french in order to communicate with players online. Ideally a french speaking realm/guild where people also speak english would be ideal.

I do not think you can learn French very well purely by playing WoW in French, but I know that playing the game in French can be a fantastic supplement alongside more traditional French Lessons, since it will help increasing your vocabulary quite a bit. You should keep in mind that it will be most effective if you play with a French version of the client so that you can spend time reading things like quests and tooltips in French.

Getting into a multi language guild like the one you suggest can also be tremendously helpful, as they can help you explain the meaning of French words and phrases, and of course they can also help with the kind of French that is not necessarily taught in traditional French lessons :-)
