How to overcome "need better gear"

Hi

After recently having dinged to 80, there's been a bit of heroics going on. Precisely up to 51 shards so far. I've geared up drastically in the process, so I now have way better gear and more often than not I greed on cloth drops 'cause I got something better already.

However, there are still 4 locked dungeons on the list that say "you need better gear". here are my questions:
How do I get this "better gear",
How can I see how much better it has to be, and
Is there anything else I can do to gear up more effectively?

P.S. Btw, when should I go looking for raids?

A good idea is to run random dungeons that you can join without a problem, and in the process collect emblems. With those you can buy pretty nice gear that will enable you to join in to the 4 instances you're not able to join through the random tool. You seem to be on the right path, so keep on going, get those emblems and with it the gear you need to progress! And more importantly - have fun and do it all at your own pace. :)

An Heirloom item remains iLvl 1 even if the item has scaled up to level 80 stats. It's not so much a bug, but just how Heirlooms work.
