29/01 Free Character Migration

Note: any free migration may be changed or closed at any time.

The below migrations will be activated today (Monday Jan 29th). They're scheduled to close on Friday February 2nd, at 12:00 (noon) CET. However, again, please note that this may change at any time.

Grim Batol to Jaedenar / Boulderfist / Vek'nilash (same as last week)

Emerald Dream to Bronze Dragonflight (same as earlier)

Aerie Peak to Bronze Dragonflight / Anachronos
Bronzebeard to Bronze Dragonflight / Anachronos
Eonar to Bronze Dragonflight / Anachronos
Kul Tiras to Bronze Dragonflight / Anachronos
Wildhammer to Bronze Dragonflight / Anachronos

Runetotem already had migration in mid-January. It's unlikely we will rerun recent migrations unless the population remains very high, like for e.g. Emerald Dream and Grim Batol.

Auchindoun was opened as a fresh realm for TBC launch. We won't be migrating anybody there by any method (PCT or FCM) anytime soon.

That's correct, but due to those issues the migration for that first batch was already extended for a few days. I believe the pages were fully available during that extension. There may always be those who miss the deadline, and that is of course not very cool, but we can't run all past migrations over and over again. Note that this isn't only about Runetotem either - we'd might have to run every migration over again, and again, and again. It's possible the migration will open again, but I can't give a guess as to the chances of it happening or an ETA.

As said before, free character migration is not based on technical issues. Realms are evaluated only on population numbers when free migration is being considered.

We always aim to address technical issues by fixing them where they are, not by moving the entire realm's population around. The service part lacks specifics, and the definition of "worst battlegroup" is probably both a matter of preference and rather biased. In any case, it's not a topic for this thread. Thank you for respecting that.

Draenor migration was an additional migration during the first batch, and was announced both on the forums and on the Breaking News on the login screen. It was open for shorter time, however. If we do consider running some of the earlier migrations again that will be taken into account.

Why cant Emerald Dream go to anachronos like the rest of the servers? Instead of only Bronze Dragonflight

This is for two reasons:
1. Bronze Dragonflight is a little more in need of players than Anachronos, and Emerald Dream is the realm in the most need of losing a few players.
2. Emerald Dream had migration to Bronze Dragonflight earlier, and as this is a re-opened migration we'd like to make sure people who want to follow their friends don't choose the wrong realm by mistake. On other migrations that have run shorter this should be less of a risk as the agreements were made more recently.

It may change though. We'll see whether Emerald Dream is in need of more migration on Friday and reconsider the options then.
