Hi there

For about 4 years ago I tried to make replica of Stormwind in 3D Studio MAX, but since I did pretty much everything from my head it ended up in a disaster, maninly because i did not have enough reference images to go from.

After that i put the whole 3D making on ice, untill a few days ago.

I started out with plenty of screenshots of Stormwind, and tried to get it as accurate as possible.
And so far ive finished the entrance to Stormwind.
So, i just want som criticism on how it look now, and maybe if i should change something, so don't be afraid to speek up!

Here is a flyby movie of how it looks

This is actually pretty nice work... well done :-)

Look forward to see it textured also ;-)

damn fine job you did there, scale is just right.

Yeah the scaling looks to be just right, which is rather impressive considering that screenshots is the primary source of reference :-)

I find that getting the scaling right is always one of the harder things to do when modelling in 3D... Many a 3D model I have had to give up on simply because I couldn't get the scaling right :-D

It is very awesome. Hats off to you! Back in my uni years I tried my hand at 3D modelling and animation, and whilst I loved every minute of it, I wasn't very good. Things took me a lifetime to create that one guy I knew on the same course could put together in minutes. He now works for (was Eidos, now) Square Enix. Keep it up and strive for your goals like he did - dedication is foundation for success (or something equally thought provoking).

You're not the only one, tbh, as even a professional artists can get this one wrong on such a grand level it's not even funny. For instance, there was a starship in Star Trek: Deep Space 9 called U.S.S. Defiant, I'm sure fans will remember it. For that little ship, the size could vary everywhere from 50 to 170 meters, depending on what episode you watched.

Hahaha I once tried to model the U.S.S. Defiant, but it came out looking awfully flat in the end... much flatter than the official model seen in Deep Space 9 :-)

One of my last projects was to try and model one of those steam tanks that can be found around Dun Morogh, but it looks a little too tall somehow compared to how they look in-game :-)
