Hi,

When I ask this question I am directing it at the members who post often on these forums, about a certain subject. I can only define this subject as "defending a ingame class", I am really speaking to people on the PVP Forums when I ask this.

My question is, why do you spend your time to defend a ingame class on the forums?

I see it quite often, people make a comment on how easy a class is to play and then another person stands up and makes a post to defend themselfs because they play that class. I really dont get it, to me it seems like such a waste of time and quite a bit sad.

I humbly ask this question, not in a manner to offend people - I just would like some answers.

Thank you for reading this, and please keep replys civil.

I think the answer to this question is rather obvious… it is human nature to defend yourself when you are under attack!

It is true that this is only a game, and that the things in this game are only pixels and not real, but the emotions and attachments people put into the game and their characters are very much real. Additionally, if these emotions and attachments are in any way of a positive nature, they become valuable and important to people and therefore something that must be protected. You may very well think that this is either funny or sad, but to others it is serious business, and that is just how the cookie crumbles.

When you pick a class and play it for a long time, you become emotionally attached to it on some level and you care about what happens to it as the game evolves and expands. Nobody wants to see their class getting weakened, and nobody wants to feel that their class is less valuable or less useful than the other classes, so you must be able to understand why so many people become defensive and aggressive whenever somebody makes a post on these forums with demands for nerfs or claims of low skill requirements.

By calling for nerfs or claiming that other classes requires no skill to play, you are mocking and provoking other people, and since mockery and provocation is a form of attack, it is only natural that people become defensive and aggressive as a response.

Btw. your question can be turned around: why do you spend your time attacking an in-game class on the forums? Attacking something that is not real is just as much a waste of time as defending something that is not real, or am I wrong?!?

If you enjoyed wasting time, that time was not wasted :)

Now that is forum signature material right there ;-)
