About Grunty and the way to receive it

I've been surprised to see that, after I activate my code, the egg for Grunty have been sent to all my in-game character directly by mail.

To my understanding, having the Wolpertinger companion show that your (that!) character have done the necessary achievement in order to have it (get drunk, yay ! xD). Now, about Grunty, it show that the real person behind the character have participate (or view) to the Blizzcon, whithout anything to do with your character(s). That's why I don't see the reason of this "Binds when picked up" thing.

Here is my question : why do this egg is not a "Bind to Account" item ?

Is this due to some mechanics of the implementation of this reward or a decision to only give it to the already present character(s) ?

I just want a clear, straight, decent response to get that bug out of my head .p

Thanks in advance .]

P.S.: And yes, I view Blizzcon online 'cause I wasn't able to get one ticket .'( Even with Cataclysm, Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2, only "Battle.net 2.0" have really thrilled me. A blast !

Q u o t e:
This is not a complaint, just a need for further explanation.

If I create a new character from now on, I can't have Grunty on it. Since this companion refer to the player not the character, I think that's kinda odd, that's all.

Please, don't misinterpret my words...
Well I am trying not to, but you might need to provide a few more words to nudge me in the right direction.

If you create a new character, I believe it will also receive the mail with Grunty in it. Does that answer your question? :-)
