Cataclysm is Amazing but...

First, I'd like to congratulate the Blizzard team for Cataclysm. I believe it was much needed as the old continents are of great importance to players that have been in the game for many years and it's been about two years since we've really been able to have fun in them.

For me all the additions to Cataclysm as well as all the changes have my support but what happened to graphics?

I know this subject has been talked about countless times but isn't it the right moment to use a new graphic engine since you are redoing most of the game?

The graphic engine is really getting old and much better "cartoon like" graphics are possible and with better FPS as many advances have been made in graphic engines.

Today we should be able to play wow close to the opening video of the original WOW.

I hope Blizzard will hear some of the players that demand better graphics and a new graphic engine. I know I am not alone here and many of us would be willing to pay a bit more for better graphics. No one is asking for Farcry type graphics. WOW needs to keep the cartoon, fantasy style graphics but if it's not announced this year it means no one is working on it which makes it at least 3 years away. In 2013 the 10 years old graphics of WOW will not be acceptable for many and I love too much this game to not point my opinion in this matter.

To conclude you have my full support with all the changes made with Cataclysm. There is not one that I would debate on as of right now at least but please consider a new graphic engine.

We are not implementing any kind of new graphics engine at this time, but please rest assured that we are adding new graphics options incrementally. We don't want to overhaul the graphics engine and then end up with loads of people being unable to experience it. Instead we prefer to add new cool stuff here and there as we can.

One of the things I was really pleased to see in the playable version of the Worgen and Goblin starting areas was the new water system. Guys, I've got to tell you it looks great! No more repeated textures and static looking water, instead it looks truly fluid and indeed rather amazing. There are other little adjustments here and there that we are doing, and I look forward to being able to see them. I am sure we will update you with details as and when we can.

We always do want to move forward with cool new graphics and technologies, however we want to do so with forethought and due prudence.
