that keep making new threads on patch day about "OMG BLIZZ WAAH WAAH, MY REALM IS NOT UP AND YOU'VE EXTENDED MAINTENANCE BY 2/3/4/5 HOURS NOW WAAAAAAAAH"

We all know extended maintenance can be frustrating, probably no more so than the technicians you have updating the servers and running into various issues along the way.
There is absolutely no need for thread upon thread of constant cry posts all covering the same damn subject.
It's sheer ungratefulness. We're being provided with a major new content patch that we've had to pay *zero* extra for and still people complain that it might mean an afternoon without trying it out?
It'spathetic really. People yelling at you because their free content update has been delayed a little, when people with anything close to a healthy mental capacity know that Blizzard would love to have the patch rolled out within their original estimated downtime period.
I can only assume that these people flooding the forums are children, which no real grasp of how the real world works yet. And should really have a sit down with their mummy/daddy/big brother/teacher to find out the hard truth of why patch days might be (and usually do) get delayed by some time. So they can at least understand it's a little more complicated than turning on their pc, and pressing "patch now"

So Blizzard, how about in future when you lock a thread that's sobbing about WoW not being available due to a patch being rolled out, you temporarily ban the OP for 24 hours to prevent them from making another, and deter others from doing the same.

For great forum justice!

We have maintenance every week and always have, and yes it can be odd when people are surprised by it. But is it odd that people are frustrated when they can't play the game they love? No, it isn't. And though we do lock threads, and in some cases further enforce the rules in more extreme cases, I don't think banning everyone for expressing a bit of frustration in a new thread is really going to help them feel less frustrated, or appreciate our actions more -- it's more likely to lead to quite the opposite effect. Usually a lock is enough to dissuade people from re-posting the same topic.

I appreciate that from another perspective multiple posts about the same thing can be frustrating too. Please rest assured we do try and keep the forum tidy using the guidelines and a healthy pinch of our own judgement.
