The Sad state of Priests come Cataclysm.

basically I have been trying to formulate a huge wall of text to express how this feels, but basically I will try and give you guys a link for a high-level discussion about how priests are in cataclysm:

http://www.arenajunkies.com/showthread.php?t=214833

in a overall text, I will make a small version of everything said in that thread:
priests have by far the worst mana regeneration in game, even shadow with dispersions and evangelisms and hymns are going oom very very quickly while the utility they give in both PvP and PvE schenario is by a huge distance worse than what any other class in the game gives.

Priest healers are at this moment unplayable, if you have beta and you play priest you will understand what I say, compared to other healers right now we go oom the faster, our healing output is weaker than any other healer in game, and our mana is very very poor while the only good side of the priest (which is the ability to be a DPSer in some cases rather than just a healer) is destroyed by the fact priests in beta have the worst surverability in game as well as worst mobility which makes going offensive even with the best of the peels, undoable.

this all is being said while playing arena with very high level players, I can assure you the path we are going into cataclysm, if nothing new is changed, is the darkest possible.

thank you for reading, lets now discuss this matter in the best way possible.

We’re aware of the current concerns over priest healing and have additional balance changes in store within the beta. As always, constructive feedback based on these experiences is always welcome.

<3 Neth. Thanks for the feedback & info.

BTW - You can just login to your candle toon and then your avatar will be updated. Just remember to still be a candle when you logout.

Not yet sadly. The candle is in the shop for now. Hopefully we'll be getting back our avatars before too much longer.

We're never too far, though we admittedly have been very busy. We may not always be visible here, but we are trying to keep tabs on as much as possible. Keep in mind, we're still fixing bugs as well so some things that don't seem "right" may just be a bug we're either working to squish or will be squishing. Also, as you well know, we always keep an eye out for what happens on live even after testing is done with. If we see we still need to make changes, we will. It may not always be as fast as people believe it should be, but we take into account a variety of factors before making those changes and never stop watching for the how the results really play out in the end.

As for where we're "allowed" to post, we post wherever we can when we can. If I could clone myself though, I would, then I'd head to the movies while my other selves took care of the myriad tasks I still have yet to do. ;p (I'd have them work on my characters too, but that would be account sharing which is a no no. ;) )

Thanks for a rare blue post in a controversial priest thread... that gave us no information. tick tock blizzard. you have what 18/19 days til you release us like this and if we're the model for garbage healing, you need to bring the rest of the healers (*cough*paladins*cough*) in line.

You're welcome! Can I have a /hug now?

I think you missed what I said, the clock (while ticking) doesn't end with the release of Cataclysm. Time goes on and so will changes as they need to be made.

While I greatly appreciate your response in this thread, this is simply unacceptable from a customer perspective. Admittedly, I do not know what all goes into class balance, I just have a hard time believing you cannot fix the obvious problems related to the class by ship date.

Balance isn't as easy as some seem to think and often balance is in the eye of the beholder (when someone doesn't look at the larger picture.) What you may see as an "obvious problem" may not be a problem at all other than in how you're approaching it. We believe priests will be in good shape if not great, but we definitely plan to keep an eye out on things and have additional ideas should they be necessary to implement.

By what Nethaera is saying blizzard intends to release priests as they are now and "might" fix them during season 9

I'm sorry but as a priest since release this is the worst weve been competitively in WoW

Not to mention priests are supposed to shine the first 2 seasons of an expansion before druids take our comps over, now were the worst starting

Please refrain from "interpreting" what I've said. That is not what I said nor what I'm implying. When the next major patch releases, we'll talk more and see where you're at. Then we'll talk some more and see if we can find out what the root issues are and I'll convey them to the development team. Sometimes though, the answer is "no" or "we don't see it." I'm not saying either of those things right now. I'm just letting you know that we may not always agree with you.

no its not, most of these players here (at least the big majority, the PvP ones) have been playing beta since they got their acess (which happened a long time ago) and our feedback is based on lvl 85 issues, not worries, but real issues.

We're aware of those concerns. (In regard to PvP concerns.) We'll keep you all informed as we move forward in addressing them more directly.

Despite what some seem to think, we're keeping a close eye on these discussions and will make changes as we feel we need to or should. We have some different ideas that are being batted around should additional changes be needed but we're just not ready to discuss what those are. Believe it or not, we have quite a few priest players on our end too and we all want to make sure that the experience with the class is a good one the same as with any other class.
