With the Mists of Pandaria beta in full swing we thought we’d take this opportunity to shed some light on what lays ahead for PvP. To that end, we sat down with World of Warcraft Game Director Tom Chilton to discuss the future of PvP in Mists of Pandaria.

Read the new blog article then discuss it here.

Any chance we get more specific info about cross realm zones soon?

We have information about cross-realm zones in our blog article here-

We'll be keeping an eye on this thread for any additional questions or feedback btw and try to answer what we can as soon as we can.

I'm unsure how I feel about the dismount item though. I can deal with getting camped, but I can definitely see a huge QQ fest incoming. It would need one hell of a CD.

Hopefully, we'll get it into the beta at some point so that players can get it and test it out. We'll be looking for constructive feedback on it for sure as to whether there's too much of a cooldown, too little of one, availability (too available, not available enough etc.)

Can you give us more details on the quest hubs? are they going to be grindy, pve related quests or are they going to be pvp related at all?

The quest hubs aren't specifically designed for PvP. They are hubs though with daily quests that will have players coming back time after time to do them which makes them a prime location for PvP to occur (on PvP realms.)

Our roundup of Mists of Pandaria content from our press tour a bit ago has more information on questing and how that's all going to work. http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/4664616

I actually want to get my toons level capped this expansion, please do not make quest hubs PvP zones. Just because players go to areas often doesn't mean that they have to be potential zones for the top guild to feel like locking down for one faction or the other.

If you do make quest hubs PvP zones, please allow all my toons that I own to be able to freely transfer onto a realm where PvP isn't required and forced just to experience the expansion that I paid for.

Like I said earlier, PvPers don't like it when they are forced to PvE. PvErs don't like it when you are forced into PvP, and since these changes are new I see no reason why I should have to pay money just to opt out of them, make the players that want to opt into them pay the money. I chose this realm because it was suggested to me when I didn't know what to do, now I have friends on this realm and don't feel like (once again) paying all that money to transfer my toons and to then also lose all of those friends and have to start new just because some fools felt like camping quest hubs and stopping me from actually leveling.

These are not PvP zones on PvE realms. Unless you flag, you shouldn't have any concerns with PvP. If you're on a PvP realm, it's the same as any questing area you would currently encounter.

On a personal note, as someone who has played predominantly on a PvP realm, I've never had a problem leveling. Even in classic when world PvP was all there was, I still got by with a little help of my friends (and sometimes just strangers who happened to be by.)

All this does is brings back some of those same opportunities for those that want to take part in PvP who are on a PvP realm. As was said in the interview, your experience on a PvE realm shouldn't be affected.

PvP realms have different rulesets for a reason, and we're able to define this ruleset a bit further with some slight alterations to the guards. The "danger" on a PvP realm has always been there for you if you play on a PvP realm now. The difference is the opportunity either wasn't taken up by others or was avoided. For all you know, you may well not encounter any once this goes live either. Your realm may well be OK with not engaging each other at the hubs or elsewhere. They may be more focused on other things.

This isn't about "forcing" anyone to anything, but opening up opportunities that have always been a part of the intentions of PvP realms.
