Please Make Chakra a Stance Already!

Picture this. You've finally arrived at Nefarian, last boss in BWD. Three healers: druid, paladin, and You, holy priest, versatile healer who can even heal beyond the grave (when talented)! After much consideration, it is concluded (to 32.33% repeating) that the druid will heal the Ony tank, the paladin will heal the Nef tank, and You will heal the raid. As everyone jumps down, the paladin gives an anguished cry on Vent: "WoW error...disconnecting...argh--" You tell the RL, no problem, versatile healer over here, I'll just switch Chakra states and heal the Nef tank. But, as you jumped into the pit, you zinged an acrobatic PoM off the tank and now you're in Sanctuary Chakra. As the Nef tank gets rocked by shadowflame breaths and monstrous cleaves, you think about how wonderful it would be to roll a nice fat renew on him and to hit him with HW: Serenity for that juicy instant heal and extra 25% crit...except...Chakra has a 30 second CD and you're locked into Sanctuary for its full duration! Ordinarily, 30 seconds might not seem too long but it feels like an eternity when the tank is eating 35k shadowflame breaths. Of course, this story ends badly with the Nef tank dying after You oom spamming flash and greater heals, but, wait, all is not lost. At least your Hot Pocket is still warm and Jeeves and the Goblin BBQ are still up.

TLDR: Please make Chakra a stance already! A 30 second CD on our signature spell is the opposite of versatile. Holy priests should be able to toggle between Chakra states the way warriors can stance dance.

We do see this a lot and understand why players find the idea so appealing -- it'd be incredibly effective to shift effortlessly between AoE or single-target healing at the push of a button. But if we were to go that route, why have Chakra at all? Holy priests might as well have both bonuses as passive effects because there's no real commitment.

The intent of Chakra is that you commit to single-target or AoE healing. It provides a meaningful choice where you need to use your knowledge of an encounter and coordinate with other players, as well as draw upon your experience and gut instinct as a priest. At the same time, it's not a permanent commitment the way choosing between Disc and Holy is locked in during combat. If you picked the wrong Chakra, or the situation changes, you don’t have to wait that long to switch. It’s also possible to use AoE spells during the single-target mode – you’re just not using your full bonus.
