Pickpocket.. (what has changed)

Saw a post about some coin you can get and eventually turn in for 250gold.. People were saying how cool this was.

Do we still have lockboxes? Do we still have the chance to get the purple weapons? (at beginning of expansion those are pretty nice) I know pickpocketing to get lockboxes made you way way more then 250 gold. Is that just an extra to go along with everything else we used to get?
